有人到學校賣東西﹐ 我順便看新相機有沒有用得比較順手。 有。 很高興。

演講比賽

雙語班(Chinese as Second Language)今天舉行演講比賽。 通常我是用17-55 的55端拍﹐ 再靠畫素夠多來裁﹐相當搞剛。 所以跟好友借了 70-200 來用。 本來只想試試F4 夠不夠用﹐但他把F2.8的 也借我了﹐ 所以想說順便比較兩者的異同﹐ 當以後敗家的參考。

不過由奢入儉難﹐ 用2.8 開拍以後﹐ 看看還是要1/40秒左右﹐ 實在沒有勇氣再放棄一格快門﹐ 只有開開關關IS看沒有差. 坦白講﹐用腳架拍演講者﹐實在看不出IS的好處。 倒是有體會到2.8的重量。 坐著不好出力﹐ 拍一個多小時下來﹐ 很不好玩。 看來將來要買那支還是無法決定。

新玩具 Ricoh GX100

愛照相的沒有不愛相機的﹐雖然我還算把持得住。
但我確實需要一台隨身機。

怎樣的隨身機呢﹖ 快門遲滯不能太久﹐ 要有觀景窗﹐ 要有快門優先﹐
要有28或更廣﹐還有不能太小。 以上條件其實不苛﹐ 但就只能找到
Ricoh GX100。 有人猛推 Canon G9﹐ 但它敗在只有35mm。
GX100 要外掛電子觀景窗﹐ 很討厭﹐ 但看在有 24mm 和 Snap Mode
的份上﹐ 認了。 以上那幾點要求有不合理嗎﹖
怎麼那麼難找那麼一臺相機﹖

GX100 能控制的東西還真多﹐ 說明書看了一個多鐘頭﹐ 還沒看
完一半。 初次使用印象不佳﹐ 但我承認自己要負很大的責任﹐
因我忘了帶觀景窗。 我真的不會用LCD 拍照。
而且只要不是 FM2﹐ 很難不被我嫌。

我是有認真想過要用FM2+24當隨身機﹐不過底片處理實在
太麻煩了。 而且這組合不算小。

現有的相機是 Canon XT (350D) + 17-55。 幾乎可說是一鏡走天下。 因為其他鏡頭﹐ 夠長的太慢﹐ 夠快的不夠長。

Visiting Yale University

March 29, 2008. Saturday

We visited Yale University on last Saturday. It's a great day - a little chilly (42F) and windy but very sunny. The best of all - there was no traffic going through Bronx.

When we reached the visitor's center we caught an unexpected Engineering Tour. We had to skip lunch but we couldn't care less because we got a very personal tour to see the "inside" of Yale.

For an hour and half later we walked the chilly streets and visited a couple of buildings. It's a great experience. After that we joined the regular tour to see the campus. The girl leading the tour came from Baylor, Texas and majors in history. She can talk!
